A complete of 985 factories including readymade garments and textile units that fall under the jurisdiction of Industrial Police remained wide open until Sunday amid coronavirus outbreak in the united states.
In line with the Industrial Police (IP), there are a few 7,408 industrial devices in the IP’s 6 zones incorporating Ashulia in Dhaka, Gazipur, Chattogram, Narayanganj, Mymensingh and Khulna.
From the 7,408 products, 3,366 are readymade garments and textile factories and the others are jute mills, cement factories, re-rolling mills and other factories.
IP resources said that out from the 985 factories which remained start, 299 were textile and RMG units.
The IP data showed that there were 1,887 member factories of the Bangladesh Garment Makers and Exporters Association in the six zones and 183 of these remained open until Sunday.
Out of your 1,094 factories registered with the Bangladesh Knitwear Suppliers and Exporters Association, 35 remained open.
A total of 385 factories are registered with the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association and 81 of these remained wide open until Sunday, the data showed.
The others 4,042 factories participate in other sectors and 686 of these remained open.
The IP data also showed that there were 194 factories beneath the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and 175 of these remained closed on Sunday.
BGMEA officials said that almost all of the member factories of the trade body announced a closure and a few of the units that have been producing personal protection tools and masks to avoid the coronavirus outbreak found in the united states remained open.
Bangladesh Garment Shramik Sanghati president Taslima Akhter and standard secretary Julhasnayeen Babu about Sunday demanded an instantaneous closure of garment factories with advance pay to safeguard the employees from the infection of COVID-19.
The labour rights organisation said that it had been concerning that a number of the factories were still open, putting the employees and the other staff vulnerable to coronavirus infection as social distancing was essential to protect persons from the epidemic.
