Agriculture minister: Honey trade can reduce poverty
He made the comment while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day National Honey Fair
Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzak on Sunday said honey trade in Bangladesh can be a source for poverty reduction.
He made the comment while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day National Honey Fair, being held at the AKM Giasuddin Milky Auditorium in Dhaka’s Farmgate, organized by the Agriculture Ministry.
Minister Abdur Razzak said: “Promoting the idea of honey farming with modern technology, sharing and spreading knowledge about numerous uses of the product, and increasing production can generate extra income and create new jobs—thus contributing to unemployment reduction.”
Director General of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Mir Nurul Alam presided over the inaugural ceremony of the fair.
Khondaker Anisuzzaman, director of the Development of Beekeeping Through Modern Technology Project of BSCIC and President of Bangladesh Agro Process Association (BAPA) AFM Fakhrul Islam Munshi, also spoke at the event.
A total of 61 honey stalls have been installed at the fair premises.
