Apple has teamed up with Eli Lilly to find out if the Apple Watch together with an iPhone can be used to spot early signs of dementia.
The company has been working with Eli Lilly and Evidation, a health startup to find quicker ways to detect cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s with the help of popular devices and wearables.
The study conducted included participants being given an Apple iPhone, an Apple Watch and Beddit sleep tracker. The early stages of the study revealed that people with symptoms of cognitive diseases typed slower and sent lesser text messages compared to healthy participants.
While the study did not conclude anything concrete, researchers said they needed more analysis. Researchers are also not very keen on sharing the result with the patients because patients cannot do much after.
Apple has been consistently focusing on helping their users detect health issues. Their atrial fibrillation and fall detection studies along with the Apple heart study make this evident.
