Bangladesh- Three-day Indian engineering trade show due in city on Jan 22

Seeking to forge global supply chain with partners from Bangladesh, an Indian engineering trade show INDEE Bangladesh 2020, organised by EEPC India, will be held at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the city from January 22-24.

Gurvinder Singh, Director, EEPC India made the announcement at a press meet today held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka.

'Bangladesh has emerged as India's major trading partner with bilateral trade exceeding USD 10 billion along with Bangladesh exports crossing USD 1 billion in the year 2019,' Singh said.

He further mentioned that the Indian government has chosen Bangladesh as a repeat destination for INDEE, showing India's commitment to Bangladesh's growth.

EEPC India is an organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India.

The exhibition will be participated by over 120 Indian companies including PSUs like Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Earth Movers as well as nine companies from Bangladesh among others.

Besides the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the event is also supported by Bangladeshi apex chambers and associations like FBCCI, IBCCI, BEIOA and BEMMA.

Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Minister of Industries, Government of Bangladesh will formally inaugurate the exhibition at 11 am on January 22 at Hall-1 of ICCB. Riva Ganguly Das, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Ravi Sehgal, Chairman, EEPC India, Seikh Fazle Fahim, President, FBCCI, Md Abdul Matlub Ahmed, President, IBCCI and Mahesh K Desai, Senior Vice Chairman, EEPC India and others will be present at the inauguration ceremony.

The press briefing was also addressed by Pramyesh Basall, Commercial Representative of Indian High Commission in Dhaka. 'Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced 2020 as the year of Light Engineering products in Bangladesh. Therefore, INDEE 2020 provides an excellent platform to connect engineering equipment and machine providers of India and Bangladesh,' he said.

He further mentioned both the countries can jointly build a global supply chain and integration in a host of sectors. 'For instance, India could be a partner of Bangladesh in supply of textile machinery since the latter has emerged as a leading exporter of apparels. Likewise, Bangladesh can form partnership with Indian firms in light engineering sector.'

INDEE Bangladesh 2020 will be held at Hall-1 and 2 of ICCB and will remain open for trade and general visitors from 11 am to 7 pm every day.

This is the second time the exhibition is taking place in the country. Earlier, the first edition of INDEE Bangladesh was held from November 2-4 in 2017 at ICCB which was participated by over 100 Indian companies and visited by 4000 business and trade personnel.
