BEZA hosts discussion over potentials of SMEs

Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) is creating a separate SME zone at Bangabandhu Shilpanagar on Mirsarai to improve the contribution of the SMEs to the GDP, said BEZA executive chairman Paban Chowdhury

He was addressing a good webinar titled 'Enabling Expense Climate to understand Great Potential' held recently together with Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Market (CCCI) Bangladesh Centre of Excellence (BCE).

The discussion centered on the diversification of investment and potential sectors for investment, UNB reports.

The session was chaired by CCCI president Mahbubul Alam and moderated by N. Rajashekaran (Shekar), managing director, Citibank National Association, Bangladesh, said a mass media release on Monday.

Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, chairman and chief executive officer of Pran-RFL Group, Aameir Alihussain, managing director of BSRM Band of Companies and Miran Ali, managing director of Bitopi Group were among the distinguished panelists at the virtual discussion.

Mahbubul Alam said buyers have to be guided on choosing the best sector for investment that ought to be a part of a thorough investment diversification strategy.

Ahsan Khan Chowdhury called after investors and businessman to profit from the tremendous potential of business growth found in Bangladesh.

Aameir Alihussain sighted capacity and skills creation and access to finance for SMEs as the stimulating factor for another level growth of Bangladesh.

Miran Ali said Bangladesh can simply double the production found in next couple of years through diversified purchase specially concentrating on manmade fibers instead of traditional cotton products.
