Biman suspends ten domestic flights following Yangon accident

The flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines suspended operation of ten flights on four domestic routes till May 13, due to shortage of aircraft following the Biman flight accident at Yangon Airport on May 8.
“Ten flights on Sylhet, Rajshahi, Jashore and Saidpur routes will remain suspended due to shortage of aircrafts,” Shakil Meraj, General Manager – Public Relations, Biman Bangladesh Airlines said.
Biman runs flight operation on ten domestic routes across the country with three Bombardier Dash-8 planes.
As one out of the three broke apart due to the crash at Yangon International Airport in Myanmar, the airline is having difficulties to run its operation on all the domestic routes with the rest of the aircraft, Biman sources said.
Biman returns with ten survivors from Yangon
Biman Bangladesh Airlines brought back ten survivors of the Myanmar bound Biman flight on May 10, which crashed while landing at Yangon International Airport on May 8.
The special flight took off from Dhaka for Yangon at 4 pm on May 10, and returned to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with the passengers at 10:40 pm the same day. The returnees are two pilots, two cabin crew members, two ground engineers, and four passengers.
Shakil Meraj, General Manager – Public Relations, Biman, said, “Five of the returnees will be admitted to the hospital for treatment, and the others will go home.” Two of the Bangladeshi passengers could not return because of work in Yangon.
"Biman will also bear the treatment expenses of the foreign passengers being treated in Myanmar," Shakil added.
