China gives Bangladesh priority for investment
China regards Bangladesh as the best country for investment with most attractive business environment. Chinese investors hold the opinion that further infrastructural development can draw more investments for Bangladesh.
Chinese department concerned have been working in this regard, said sources from Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA). Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Abdul Matlub Ahmad informed on Sunday in Bangladesh China Business Conference that the 'One Stop Service Bill' would be placed in the Parliament soon to expedite investment procedure.
China is the largest trade partner of Bangladesh. The trade gap between two countries, however, was $8.84 billion during last fiscal in favor of China. The deficit is increasing although Bangladesh is enjoying duty-free access of its five hundred items into Chinese market.
Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Bangladesh in October, 2016. 27 agreements and memorandums of understandings were signed between China and Bangladesh during the Chinese President's tour. Moreover, 13 commercial pacts were signed worth $13.60 billion for private sector.
During Bangladesh-China Business Conference, FBCCI leaders have discussed with Chinese businessmen on different issues for further exploration of trade development prospects with China. Members of the Chinese delegation have informed reporters that they are giving priority to Bangladesh regarding investment.
BIDA has been working hard to further improvement of investment environment in Bangladesh to allure more Chinese investment in the country. FBCCI President further informed that a special committee has been formed to monitor the progress of investment agreements signed during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
