Ctg Women SME Expo starts Oct 15
The month-long 12th International Women SME Expo Bangladesh would start from October 15 at the port city’s Polo ground.
Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairperson Munal Mahbub made the announcement at a press conference on Saturday.
The camber is organising the fair with the assistance from Export Promotion Bureau, Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SME Foundation and Jute Diversification Promotion Centre.
There will be 15 pavilions and 350 stalls in the fair, Munal said.
Entrepreneurs from different countries, including Iran, India, China, Malaysia and Thailand would display their products in the fair, she said.
CWCCI president Monowara Hakim Ali said that they had asked for land to the Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority and about 100 businesswomen wanted to set up their factory.
She said that they wanted to set up Women Zone in BEZA and to set up a bank for women.
Member of parliament Sabiha Nahar said that foreigners faced problem to come to Chittagong as they had to use connecting flight. So Shah Amanat International Airport should be improved so that foreign investors could come directly to Chittagong.
Chamber’s senior vice-president Abida Azad, Ruhi Mostafa, assistant vice president Jesmine Akter, businessmen Zobair Shaki, Nazma Akter, Baby Hasan, Tania Kashem, Rokeya Rahman, and Rekha Alam Chowdhury were present.
