Destruction of 400 Streams and Waterfalls of Bandarban

Stone extraction has now become a massive reason behind the destruction of nature in Bangladesh. According to the experts, there is a minimum amount of 400 streams and waterfalls, which had been destroyed because of stone extraction processes. 

At a conference by NRCC; National River Conversation Commission and Bangladesh’s River Explorer’s Association, the experts have informed their analysis about the streams and waterfalls being destroyed. It happened on the Hill View Convention Center of Bandarban in the last Friday, 19 February 2019. The experts are very serious about the matter.

MonirulIslan of Bangladesh’s River Explorer’s Association had stated, “The illegal extraction of boulders from streams and obviously, stones is a great reason behind causing many streams and waterfalls dry up”. It was stated during the event. He further added, “All our lives are solely dependent on our rivers so it is now time to preserve them.”

During the event, the Chittagong’s DC; the Deputy Commission, Abdul Mannan was present and had stood with Dr.Muzibur Rahman Howladar, the chief guest and also the chairman of NRCC. The event concluded with different decisions of upcoming activities. 

“Illegal river encroachment is destroying the natural balance of our environment and it must be stopped for once and for all”, a reputable member of National River Conversation Committee had stated in the event with a serious tone. 

“Everyone should come forward if they want to save nature and obviously preserve our rivers. Conservation of Sangu, a major River of Bandarban, Bangladesh is much needed now and steps must be taken as fast as they can”, Monirul Islam The river conservation activist had stated in the event. 

It is expected for the upcoming conferences to include different topics like river conservation, water crisis and obviously their solutions for the upcoming days. There can be seminars during the meetings for this kind of sessions. It will work as a great solution for the hill tract areas and also water crisis.
