Government firms could spend 28.45 % or Tk 61,048 crore allocated for expansion projects in July-January of the existing fiscal year -- the cheapest in the last five years, in line with the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED).
Shelling out for development projects fell 11 % year-on-year to Tk 61,048 crore in the first seven a few months of the fiscal yr, a result of the government's go-slow approach towards low concern schemes.

The religious affairs ministry fared best in terms of implementation of projects beneath the twelve-monthly development programme (ADP).
THE INNER Resources Division (IRD) beneath the finance ministry was the worst performer.
The religious affairs ministry could spend 74 per cent of Tk 884 crore of the creation schemes for the ongoing fiscal year which will end in June.
The IRD spent only one 1.80 % of the allocation of Tk 438 crore in the same period.
Of the very best 10 ministries and divisions that account for 72 per cent of the total ADP outlay for the existing fiscal year, power division performed best while health offerings division was the worst in conditions of expenditure.
The power division consumed 38 % of Tk 27,297 crore allocated for development projects for the fiscal year.
Medical services division could spend just 17 % of the full total outlay of Tk 9,736 crore.
