DIFE to inspect systems in EPZs
State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu yesterday said Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) will be included in the existing system of labor inspection in Export Processing Zones (EPZs) across the country.
"This department will be included in the system under Bangladesh Labor Law. We are working to amend Bangladesh Labor Law and EPZ Labor Act for this," he said.
The state minister came up with the observations while addressing a dialogue on implementing SDG, organized by Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) at a city hotel.
"The present government is committed to establish the rights of laborers. The government recently took a decision that a trade union can be formed in a factory with the consent of 20 percent of the laborers of that establishment.
