FBCCI invites Chinese investment in textile

FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) urged the visiting Chinese business people to invest in Bangladesh in the infrastructure development, equipment manufacturing, light industry, electronics and textiles sectors. 

The FBCCI Chief invited the Chinese Delegation for investment at discussion between the FBCCI leaders and the visiting Chinese Delegation from Jilin Province held at FBCCI office on Sunday. 

The 21 members Chinese Delegation was led by Sun Guohua, Deputy Director of the Commerce Department of Jilin Province. The discussion was also attended by FBCCI First Vice President Sheikh Fazle Fahim, Vice President Md Muntakim Ashraf and the Directors of FBCCI. Representatives of sectoral member bodies were also joined the program.

FBCCI President Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) briefed the delegation on the current economic development of the country. He also mentioned that Bangladesh has developed hugely in infrastructure, communication and some other sectors in recent years. 

Further he said that as Bangladesh is the gateway of ASEAN and South Asian Countries and close to China through Kunming. As China occupies a unique geographic position bridging the parts of South Asia this two countries can take advantage of the global opportunity. 

FBCCI President also mentioned that Bangladesh has achieved consistent GDP growth of over 6 percent during the last couple of years and gained above 7 percent GDP growth in the past two years.  FBCCI Chief said that the investment opportunity in Bangladesh is now open for all and the government is offering very lucrative policy for the investors. 

Leader of the Chinese Delegation Sun Guohua, Deputy Director of the Commerce Department of Jilin Province said that in recent years the economic relation between China and Bangladesh has been increased manifold.   Sun invited the Bangladesh business community to invest in Jilin Province in the agriculture, automobile and electronics sectors. 

The delegation was comprised of the representatives of agriculture, automobile, solar power panel and medical equipments. It may be mentioned that, Bangladesh exported total amount of US$949.41 million to China in 2016-17 and imported the amount of US$10128.1 million. 

The principal export products of Bangladesh to China are woven garments, leather goods, knitwear, jute and jute goods and leather and frozen foods etc. 

The import items from China are textiles and textile articles, machinery and mechanical appliance electrical equipment and products of the Chemical or allied industries etc.
