Gender Pay Gap in Renowned Universities
According
to a recent research it has been found out that 90% of the universities in
Britain are paying their male employees higher than the female employees
comparatively on average. According to
the data The Qualities Office has access to, most of the government
departments are having pay gaps 2/3 of the local councils.
The higher
median pay gap of universities situated in Britain is 13.7% on average,
however, the national average at the end
of 2018 was 9.1%. In 2017 it was 15.3%, which concluded with an even worse
result.
Around 17
percent of the United Kingdom workforce is employed by the public sector. 5.3
million people are being employed by the public sector. “There had been a marked narrowing of the gap
over the past decade”, said The Universities and Colleges Employers Association
(UCEA). They also said that it’s been years since they have been working on the
issue.

to the report, the highest payment gap was possessed by Harper Adams
University. The representative of the university had informed that the pay gap
was cutoff compared to the previous years and they are working hard enough to
narrow down even more.
Not only
Gender Pay Gap is being occurred for salaries but also a bonus, in fact, the circumstance of bonus is
even worse. Reputable public universities like the University of Liverpool and Newcastle University have a bonus pay gap of 87.6% and 80% respectively.
The highest
pay gap is found in the department of media, culture,and sports, which is 22.9% on
average. On the other hand, 78 councils are currently paying women higher than
men. Hertfordshire University has a 50% pay gap. Gender pay gap has been illegal since 1970 and is still being
practiced.

also be taken in order to favor gender equality. Women and Men must be paid
with the same amount, and steps must be taken against Hertfordshire University
too, as they are paying the female employees more right at this moment.
