How to travel from India to Myanmar by road?

Long road trip in mind… If yes then let’s embark on a road trip to our neighbouring country, Myanmar. Since the Indo-Myanmar Border crossing agreement was signed between the two nations on May 11, 2018, you can actually enjoy a trip from India to Myanmar via road.
All that you need to know about the agreement
Since, Myanmar shares borders with four Indian states – Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland, as per the agreement, there are two international entry-exits check points, one in the the twin towns of Moreh and Tamu in Manipur, and Rihkhawdar, Zowkhawtar in Mizoram that are open to normal tourists/ visitors with valid passports and visa.
Which exit point is preferable?
If you opt for the exit point in Manipur, it will save you time. The distance between Imphal airport (Manipur) and Moreh Border is around 3.5 hours, whereas the other exit point in Mizoram has the nearest airport Lengpui situated at a distance of around 242 km and it will take you around 10 hours to reach.
Can you drive your own car to Myanmar?
Yes, it’s absolutely possible. However, for this, you will have to get a Carnet De Pass and International Driving License (IDP), which can be applied through Regional Transport Authority Office at a nominal cost. As regarding the carnet, you will need to pay a security deposit.
How to get a Myanmar visa?
You can easily get a visa to Myanmar if you know the process. For hassle-free travel, you can opt for an electronic visa, for which you are not required to visit an embassy or spend hours trying to gather paperwork. When all the paper works are in place, you are all set to embark on a beautiful journey from India to Myanmar.
