Huawei facilitates girls’ education in Bangladesh

Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd has provided educational supplies to the children of Korail area at an event organised at the T&T Adorsho Girl’s High School premises in Dhaka recently.
The ICT industry also provided tabs to the school in order to introduce digital teaching method to the girls, said a press release.
The event was organised with an inspiration to help the school-going girls of Bangladesh.
Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, Deputy Minister for Education, Li Jiming, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Zhang Zhengjun, CEO, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd and Sultana Ferdowsi Khan, Principal of T & T Adorsho Girl’s High School along with higher officials of Huawei, were also present on the occasion.
Huawei is not only a leading ICT industry but also a responsible organisation for the society. It has devoted itself in many activities especially in four aspects --- bridging the digital divide, promoting environmental protection, supporting stable and secure network operations and also supporting local communities.
In the last two decades, Bangladesh made remarkable gains in the education sector. According to Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics (BANBEIS), Bangladesh made significant development of 112.1% in the enrolment of children for primary education. For this, Bangladesh acquired gender equality for educational access for both primary and secondary education.
As an organisation based on open collaboration, Huawei wants to be a part of this journey and encourage the girls who are pursuing education for the betterment of their lives and the society.
At the event, Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, Deputy Minister for Education said, “Education is one of the primary needs of any human being. Our government is working to spread the light of education to every citizen of the country. We are also attaching top importance on girl’s education and we believe that it is necessary to involve them more in every segment.”
Though Huawei is a global leading ICT solution provider, they are still coming forward to help the education sector of Bangladesh. “Today (Tuesday), they have come forward with educational supplies for the students of T & T Adorsho Girl’s High School, which will surely encourage them with their studies. I really appreciate their endeavour in this regard.”
Zhang Zhengjun, CEO Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd. said, “It has been 20 years that Huawei has been growing with Bangladesh. During this 20 years we have seen rapid development of Bangladesh and now the country has a vision to make the country digitalised by 2021. As an organization based on open collaboration, Huawei wants to be a part of this journey and encourage the students who are pursuing education for the betterment of their lives and the society.”
Li Jiming, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, said, “Bangladesh is a good neighbour and also a good friend to China. The development of China-Bangladesh relations is surely has unprecedented opportunities for cooperation.”
“The initiative that Huawei has taken today is a good small example of our willingness to help the students with their education, I would like to thank Huawei for this initiative and hope more and more Chinese entities will join to this field in the near future.”
Huawei has always been fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities locally and in the past 20 years and has been working closely with the industry partners to bring technical benefits to the people in Bangladesh. For talent development of Bangladesh Huawei has been organising the global flagship CSR ‘Seeds for the future’ for the last five years.
Also for women empowerment, Huawei has been running ICT bus with the help of few of their partners. Besides, Huawei regularly distributes relief among the people in need and bring the digital connectivity to the rural community by enriching people’s lives through communication, education and opening a window to internet.
