Huawei keen to support Bangladesh's ICT sector

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei is keen to support Bangladesh’s ICT sector to tap huge potentials, officials said, by providing it with newer innovative solutions.

“We want to bring innovative solutions to the industries in Bangladesh as long as they need … whatever our company have, we will bring those in Bangladesh,” said Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd CEO Zhang Zhengjun (Jun).

Zhang said this in a meeting when a 13-member media delegation from Bangladesh visited the Huawei headquarters at Shenzhen in China recently. Vice President of the Public Affairs and Communications Department of Huawei Technologies Company Ltd Guo Fulin and Senior Manager of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd Abu Jahid Parag were also present.

Two separate power-point presentations were made at the meeting on Huawei’s corporate affairs and their operations in Bangladesh.

Citing a very bright prospect of expanding further the Huawei’s operations in Bangladesh considering a big population size with high smart phone penetration, Zhang said they have already demonstrated 5G test in Bangladesh and they are ready to give this 5G network support to Bangladesh in the following years.

On July 25 this year, Huawei conducted Bangladesh’s first trial of fifth generation network (5G) teaming up with the Bangladeshi government’s Posts & Telecommunications Division, the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Robi.
