‘I must return’: Anju Ghosh hints at Bangladesh film comeback
“I will return to Bangladesh. I must return. Because I am hearing good news as well as news about bad condition of the industry,” she said at the awards ceremony at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation or FDC in Dhaka on Sunday.
The actress, who played the role of ‘Josna’ in ‘Beder Meye Josna’, said to be the highest grossing film in Dhallywood, said she was surprised to see that people still remember her.
“I feel like performing a pilgrimage,” she said about her visit to Dhaka.
She regretted that people were getting drawn more towards the TV screens than the silver screen now.
“How can it happen to such a beautiful industry?” she asked.Recalling her days in Bangladesh, Anju said, “This FDC was home to us. We even slept here overnight and resumed shooting the next morning.”
Actress Anjana said she hoped Anju would return and act in the sequel.
Filmmaker Shahidul Haque Khan also expressed interest to make a new film featuring Anju.
The actress said she would have no issues acting again if she got a ‘realistic’ proposal.
Ahmed Sharif, a former general secretary of the association, and its incumbent President Misha Shawdagar also spoke at the event.
The actress of around 450 films also said she had left Bangladesh for family reasons, not out of ‘anger’.
Actor Ilias Kanchan, Anju’s co-actor of many films, including ‘Beder Meye Josna’, thanked the Association for the reunion after 22 years.
The association’s Vice-President Nadir Khan, who runs Rajesh Films, proposed making ‘Josna Keno Banabase’ a sequel to ‘Beder Meye Josna’ starring Ilias and Anju.
