If we do not resist evil, we go along with it
In recent weeks and months, Trump administration officials have faced increased hostility from the American public. Most notably, the owner of a Virginia restaurant refused to serve dinner to press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders because of her association with the president.
Incidents like this have divided opinion. Some contend that Trump collaborators deserve to be ostracised, and to do anything else is to passively acquiesce to policies like locking up immigrant children in cages. Others respond that these reactions are not productive and that we must try to understand how or why people support inhumane, racist and insane Trump policies. They contend that all political opinions deserve equal respect.
