IFC to provide another $20m to Omera Petroleum

International Financing Corporation (IFC), an associate of the World Bank Group, provides Omera Petroleum Limited financing of $20 million to handle the funding challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, IFC and Omera signed an agreement about the matter. IFC offers the $20 million to meet up funding requirements of Omera.

That is IFC’s second investment through its Covid-19 fast-track financing support package.

The funding can help Omera - a preexisting client of IFC and Bangladesh’s greatest LPG operator when it comes to investments, storage area and filling capacity - overcome challenges resulting from the ongoing limited usage of forex, said a declaration of Omera.

IFC came forwards to support Omera, permitting them to strengthen functions, maintain employment, and usage of forex for import of LPG during these challenging monetary times, it added.

“IFC’s support is definitely of essential importance and will help us respond to challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. It'll allow us to financing foreign currency liability for LPG import,” explained Omera’s CFO Md Akter H Sannamat.

He added: “Our partnership with IFC is quite strong and we are focused on its environmental, community, and governance requirements.”

Omera Petroleum Limited, a 62.49% owned subsidiary of MJL Bangladesh Limited started its procedure in 2015 with two foreign shareholders namely FMO, a Dutch expansion bank, and BB Energy Pte Ltd, a giant energy operator in Europe.

Omera conducts its organization activities through its a number of LPG plants found in Ghorashal, Mirsharai, Bogra and its main terminal Mongla.

Its current storage capability is nearly 10,000 tons with a bottling potential of 60,000 cylinders each day. It possesses three LPG carrying barges and 34 LPG Road Tankers.
