Industries minister: Action against illegal drinking water traders
He asked the industry leaders to submit the list of unauthorized and low quality water producing companies to the Industries Ministry
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Monday said the government will take strict measures against unlicensed and low quality drinking water traders.
“Ensuring safe water is the responsibility of the government. So that the government will take firm steps to fulfil the responsibility,” he said while meeting with the leaders of Pure Drinking Water Manufacturing Association of Bangladesh at Industries Ministry in the city.
He asked the industry leaders to submit the list of unauthorized and low quality water producing companies to the Industries Ministry.
Humayun said the government has already expedited the activities of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) to ensure safe consumer food, including drinking water.
Among others, convener of the organization M Neamul Haque Ripon and member secretary M Mujibur Rahman were present at the meeting.
