Mahbub becomes MD, CEO of MTB

Syed Mahbubur Rahman has recently been appointed the managing director and CEO of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB), said a press release.
Prior to joining MTB, he was the managing director and CEO of Dhaka Bank.
He has also served as the managing director and CEO and deputy managing director of BRAC Bank and as deputy managing director of Prime Bank in the past, it said.
He is also the Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB) chairman for 2018-2019 and has been accorded with ‘The Asian Banker Leadership Achievement Award’ for Bangladesh for his achievements in the period from 2011 to 2013.
He holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree from the Institute of Business Administration of Dhaka University.
Mahbub started his career with Saudi-Bangladesh Industrial and Agricultural Investment Co Ltd as a monitoring officer in 1988.
He served the Industrial Leasing and Development Co (BD) Limited as manager, monitoring from 1993 to 1996, ANZ Grindlays Bank, Bangladesh as a manager, corporate banking from 1996 to 1998 and Standard Chartered Bank as relationship manager, corporate banking from 1998 to 2000.
In 2002, he joined Citibank NA as resident vice-president and left the bank in 2008 while serving as a director and financial institutions group head, the release said.
