Foreign Minister of Malaysia Hishammuddin Tun Hussein on Sunday urged Bangladesh to withdraw the export ban on Hydroxychloroquine tablets with their country, as the medicine was important for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
Hishammuddin, in a letter sent to his Bangladeshi counterpart Dr AK Abdul Momen, thanked the latter for his cooperation to take back stranded Malaysian nationals from Bangladesh, said a foreign ministry news release.
The Malaysian government was providing necessary assist with expatriate Bangladeshi nationals residing in that country amid Covid-19 pandemic, reports BSS.
These were working closely with the Bangladesh mission in Kuala Lumpur in this regard, the letter added.
The Malaysian foreign minister also put focus on working with Bangladesh in combating the deadly coronavirus.
