Mangalore’s Prakash Offset Printers installs fourth Heidelberg platesetter

Prakash Offset’s relationship with Heidelberg dates back to when it installed the first Heidelberg machine and began its operation three decades ago in 1983. Today, the company has eight Heidelberg presses, including India’s first Speedmaster SX 52 Anicolor press, installed in 2014.

Prakash Offset’s 35,000 sqft plant in Baikampady is the main production unit of Prakash Offset which also houses Heidelberg presses. The second, a 5,000 sqft site in Kodialbail, is the company’s pre-press and design unit, where the Heidelberg Anicolor is installed. The company specialises in printing books, leaflets, posters, banners, brochures, magazines and packaging, and post-press activities, including pinning, binding, lamination, converting and other finishing jobs. PR Naya, director at Prakash Offset said, "We were certain about our investment right from day one. The Heidelberg Suprasetter A 106 is rewarding equipment. We have used the Heidelberg Suprasetter equipment for over a decade, and the performance and quality are exemplary."

According to Nayak, the new Suprasetter has given its operation a much-needed additional capacity to meet the increasing volumes of makereadies demanded by its customers in the printing and packaging space and quick turnaround of jobs. “We were very sure about the investment. It has enabled us to grow and give amazing services to our valuable customers.”

The Suprasetter A 106 CtP has a dimension of 84.65 widths × 58.82 depth × 60.47 height (inches), with a minimum plate format of 370 height x 323 widths (mm); and a maximum plate format of 930 height × 1,060 widths (mm) and delivers a resolution of 2,400 dpi. The platesetter is fitted with Heidelberg's patented laser system and Intelligent Diode System (IDS), which Heidelberg said, ensured imaging quality and production reliability.

Besides, the Suprasetter’s high-depth focus compensates for unevenness in the plates, while the temperatures of all the components relevant to imaging are maintained at constant levels. “Since the imaging of the printing plates always takes place under the same conditions, the ambient temperature change is eliminated, which means accurate registration and faster makeready on press. These features have boosted our productivity and given us a more advanced pressroom,” concluded Nayak.
