Meituan to debut unmanned food delivery vehicles
eituan-Dianping, an emerging Chinese online platform for local life services, has unveiled its self-developed unmanned delivery vehicle for the first time in Beijing, The Paper reported.
The unmanned vehicle can manage indoor and outdoor meal delivery tasks, and is able to take elevators by itself.
Compared with delivery vehicles for e-commerce, takeaway delivery vehicles have higher requirements on the timeliness of delivery, so it is necessary to design a more sensitive algorithm.
The unmanned vehicles are expected to launch in some closed parks in the Xiongan New Area in August, while the specific number of vehicles is still under negotiation.
It is reported that the unmanned delivery vehicle will be put into trial operation in 2018, and large-scale operations in certain areas will be carried out in 2019.
