Railway supply industry news round-up
Knorr-Bremse has sold its Sydac driver training simulator business to the Oktal subsidiary of the Sogeclair group. This includes Sydac's activities in Australia, India and the UK, as well as the TDS unit of New York Air Brake. 'We are continuing to focus on our core competencies as a key supplier for the railway industry, offering subsystems and components and related services', said Knorr-Bremse executive board Chairman Klaus Deller on August 29. 'Knorr-Bremse is therefore carrying out a strategic realignment and has decided to divest its holding in Sydac.'
ISO 9001 2015 certification has been obtained by Brunel Engraving, which provides engraving services and supplies labelling, marker posts, signal labels, mimic diagrams, control panels and track control system graphics to companies including Network Rail, Thales Rail, Atkins and Bombardier. It recently completed an extensive refit and expansion of its UK production facility near Bristol, increasing workshop space by 25%, to improve efficiency and accommodate new laser and etching equipment.
Siemens and Bentley Systems have decided to strengthen their strategic alliance, increasing funding for their joint innovation investment programme from the initial €50m to €100m. Siemens has also gradually increased its stake in Bentley Systems to more than 9%. ‘We are investing in the next collaboration level with Bentley, where for instance we will strengthen their engineering and project management tools with Siemens enterprise wide collaboration platform Teamcenter to create a full Digital Twin for the engineering and construction world’, said Siemens management board member Klaus Helmrich.
