SCB Trade Awards honour top business institutions
12 companies were felicitated at the second annual “Partners in Progress: Standard Chartered Bangladesh” (SCB) Trade Awards 2018 in the capital recently, according to a press release.
Held for the first-time last year, the SCB Trade Awards is an annual initiative through which the Bank recognizes their valued clients for their achievements in external trade.
Among the 12 companies, the winners in the textile and garments segment were Ha-Meem Group, Youngone Corporation, Epic Group, Square Group and Pacific Jeans Ltd.
The winners from other industries, like commodities, power, FMCG and automobiles were: City Group; Meghna Group of Industries; T.K Group; PHP Family; United Group; Unilever Bangladesh Ltd and Uttara Group of Industries.
The bank also felicitated three national export trophy gold winners with awards.
Noman Group for Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Ltd, Akij Group for Akij Jute Mills Ltd and Pran Group for Banga Plastic International Ltd, each recipient of the last national export trophy, were a recognized for their contributions to the export success of Bangladesh.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi presented the awards to the business owners as the chief guest of the programme, while Lisa Robins, global head of transaction banking and Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO, both represented Standard Chartered Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Naser Ezaz Bijoy said, “Partners in Progress: Standard Chartered Bangladesh Trade Awards is an initiative through which we celebrate the achievements of our clients in our nation’s journey of prosperity. It recognises of the success of Bangladesh’s entrepreneurs, who, through their toil and ingenuity, have helped Bangladesh become an important node of the global value chain.”
Facilitating international trade for its partners has been a historical strength for the bank: the very first external Letter of Credit in independent Bangladesh was issued by the bank in 1972.
