Stocks close week down
Stocks closed the week down yesterday with falling trend of all major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges due to lower activities of some large-cap securities despite higher transactions, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 23.56 points down at 5,258.48. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 10.70 points down at 1,865.36 and with 7.74 points down at 1,216.05 respectively.
Out of the 348 issues traded on the DSE, 163 gained against 157 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 17.79 percent to Tk 482.34 crore and the average trade volume rose by 20.58 per cent to 13.44 crore shares when majority of the traded issues closed up. The top five gainers of the week were Saiham Cotton Mills, Intech Limited, Queen South Textile Mills, Intraco Refueling Station and SK Trims and Industries.
The major losing issues of the week were GBB Power, Khulna and Packing, BD Auto Cars, Export Import (Exim) Bank of Bangladesh and Sonargaon Textiles.
The top five turnover leaders were Khulna Power Company, Shahjalal Islami Bank, Monno Ceramic Industries, Nurani Dyeing and Sweater and Intech limited.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week down, with its major CASPI index ending 86.12 points lower at 16,161.22.
