Stocks maintain upward trend
Stocks maintained upward trend on Sunday as all indices of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) increased marginally with active participation of some investors despite lower transactions.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, rose 25.53 points to settle at 5,775.83. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 3.32 points up at 1,314.77 and with 5.65 points up at 2,004.74.
Out of 347 traded issues on DSE floor, 138 gained against 173 losing securities while 36 remained unchanged.
Top five gainers on DSE trading floor were Salam Crest, Saiham Textile, AIL, BSCCL and Eastern Insurance.
Meghna Condense Milk, Savar EFR, Imam Button, Meghna Pet and Emerald Oil were the top five losers on the day. BSCCL topped the turnover listed followed by Fortune, UPGDCL, Primer Bank and Monno Ceramics.
In port city Chattogram, the CSE closed the day marginally higher with the CASPI, the all share price index, 51.75 points up to settle at 17654.03.
About 264 issues were traded and of those, 113 closed higher and 122 closed lower.
A total of 92.35 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Taka 31.50 crore were traded on the CSE floor.BSS.
