Tank terminal to be set on Karnaphuli river bank
Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited has taken initiative to setup one hundred thousand metric ton capacity tank terminal along with a Berth Operating Jetty at Juldamoaza across the Karnaphuli river in Chittagong. This facility will be one of the biggest of its kind in Bangladesh and it will be treated an independent storage terminal where customers can store and transship several types of petroleum oils and fuels, CDSO and chemicals, said a press release.
A contract signing ceremony was held on Wednesday between Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited and Western Marine Services Limited (WMSL) in the Mezbaan Hall of the Radisson Blue Chittagong Bay View.Eng Ali Ahmed Ex-President Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Eng Enamul Baqui Ex-Managing Director Chittagong Dry Dock, Moniruzzaman, Chairman, NRB Equity Management Ltd and Ex-Chairman, BASIC were present as a Special guests.
Among others, Captain Sohail Hasan-Chairman WMSL, Md Sakhawat Hossain-Vice Chairman WMSL, Abu Md Fazle Rashid, Managing Director WMSl, Mohammed Yousuf-Managing Director Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd, other high officials and distinguished guests were also present.
The Tank Terminal and Jetty will be constructed as per API-650 code and state-of-the-art green and safe technology will be adopted in the operation. The Jetty will be capable of berthing 10-15 thousand MT capacity marine vessels having both land & river connectivity for storage, loading and unloading of Petroleum, CDSO and chemical products.
Managing Director of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited Mohammed Yousuf told the project utilization of the scarce river side land will be optimized, country's fuel and oil storage capacity will be further enhanced, balancing between supply and demand for fuel and oil trade, saving substantial foreign exchange, provide employment opportunity, reduce distribution and storage cost for liquid fuel based power plant.
Tank Terminal facility will help reduce the cost of working capital for those who are currently importing in small scale and paying instant duty and taxes, he said. Mohammed Yousuf also solicited cooperation of all specially power generation company, blending plants, refineries and those who are already engaged in the similar business.
