In a latest development, the Thailand Embassy in India has advised Indians to get their visas from the consulate or embassy to avoid long queues. As Thailand has now opened its borders for tourism, there is an evident increase in the number of visitors at the Bangkok airport, thereby leading to long passenger queues.

If reports are to go by, the reason for the long queues is to get immigration clearance, and the number of people taking on-arrival visas is also high. Referring to this, Thailand's Ambassador to India, Pattarat Hongtong recently stated that Indian travellers can now get their Thailand visa from the embassy or the consulate general to avoid long queues at the Bangkok airport.

Thailand opened its border post COVID-19 pandemic to international visitors, who have been complaining to the Thai authorities as well as expressing on social media about the long queues at the airport for immigration clearance at the Bangkok airport.

The Thai Ambassador further added that it is quite natural for any airport, not only in Thailand. He added that nobody can expect the actual number of incoming visitors or tourists, the reason why they are advising Indian travellers to get the visa from the Embassy or Consulate General before travelling to Thailand for hassle free travel.

Mr Pattarat also added that they are increasing the number of people working at the airport to facilitate travel of the visitors. As per the Thai Government report, Thailand has received 3.78 million tourists from January to August 17 this year post COVID, which is a huge number to handle. Since Thailand's economy is heavily dependent on tourism, Pattarat added that Thailand has also ordered to increase the staff at the airport to deal with long queues of on-arrival visa applicants.
