This Might Be the Reason Chick-fil-A Is Upping Its Prices

It’s no secret. We've been seeing many fast food chains up their prices lately, including McDonald's dollar menu, which, fun fact, is no longer actually a dollar.
Now, Chick-fil-A is reportedly the next fast food chain to increase its prices with customers saying they are paying $15 and up for a meal, and no, they are not happy about it.
And the interesting thing is that many believe the reason behind the sudden increase is all due to a new cup that the chain is serving.
Chick-fil-A’s New Price Increase
Some customers believe that Chick-fil-A’s new prices, which have reached new heights, are because of the updated double-wall paper cup that the fast food chicken joint now offers.
A recent TikTok video posted by @aiyannace talks about why the Chick-fil-A orders have gotten so expensive and concluded it was because of the cup, which is “good quality” but racking up the price way too much. Many had lots to say to this too, including “THEY CHARGED U EXTRA FOR THE CUP???” And “15 bucks is insane...if that's the case I'll bring my own cup.”
However, a few other commenters who apparently work at Chick-fil-A had other things to say, such as “I work at CFA and we don’t charge for cups” and “I work at CFA and we don’t have those cups but we’ve also have had a price increase 2x this year.”
A recent Reddit thread dedicated to the new cup also has people talking about the size and how they aren’t getting as much as they should be.
“Looked at the bottom of my cup today and the inside portion which holds the beverage isn’t nearly as big as the outside layer would make you believe,” said one user, while another exclaimed: "It’s such a scam!! The ice melts just as fast and the cup is significantly smaller!”
Others came to the chicken chain’s defense saying the new cup is "the same volume” now as it was before and “isn’t some trick to pay the same for less product” but “to give similar insulation as the polystyrene cups without the environmental issues.”
What’s the Deal With Chick-fil-A’s New Cup Anyway?
Chick-fil-A dedicated a whole section about this new cup on its website, providing information on why there was a change to the original design:
“The new double-wall paper cup is a packaging solution for our cold beverages and milkshakes that is unique to Chick-fil-A. The double-wall technology has thermal qualities and extra-durability which ensures cold beverages will stay chilled longer than our current single-wall paper cup and our PET plastic cups. It is made in the United States, from paper, which is a renewable material, from certified, sustainably managed forests (SFI*). This new cup will be available in small, medium and large sizes, though our milkshakes, frosted beverages, seasonal beverages, and iced coffee will continue to be offered in a single size cup.”
The website goes on to say that the recyclable cup is currently only available at select Chick-fil-A locations, but judging by comments from customers it seems it’s already been impacting many meals (and wallets) all over.
