Tiens Group plans to increase investment in Bangladesh
The Tiens Group entered the Bangladesh market in 2004. After 14 years of rapid development, Tiens has established three branches in the country and more than 40 franchise stores. It has now nearly 600,000 registered members.
More and more consumers are using Tiens products, as the company seeks to spread the traditional Chinese health culture in the market and weave it into the fabric of the local society.
Recently, Li Jinyuan, founder and chairman of the group, shared the business policies and market plans of Tiens in Bangladesh in an exclusive interview with The Independent. Here are excerpts:
The Independent: Which sectors in Bangladesh do Tiens wants to invest in and why?
Li Jinyuan: Tiens plans to increase its investment and development in Bangladesh. It plans to build a large production base in Bangladesh, provide formula and technical support, introduce China's quality healthcare products, and cooperate with local universities and research institutes to set up research and development centres to make suitable products.
Tiens also plans to introduce local quality products of Bangladesh under the aegis of the Tiens brand. In addition to local sales, it will also consider exporting such products to other countries.
The Independent: What are the product categories that Tiens has in Bangladesh?
Li Jinyuan: At present, Tiens Bangladesh has four product categories: health food, healthcare products, beauty care products and household items. All of these culminate into 36 products.
Tiens has plans to build 10 lakh stores around the world within three years to connect one billion of its family members.
The Independent: Could you please explain the purpose and significance of the “one-body multiple-wings” strategy in Bangladesh.
Li Jinyuan: This trip to Bangladesh is to launch the “one-body multiple-wings” strategy and to implement it by visiting universities and politicians. It would help to exchange education, culture, medical and economic investment. We've plans to establish a production base in Bangladesh. We also aim to cooperate with universities and conduct related research and development for the healthcare industry. We also intend to develop e-commerce, tourism and medical tourism industries in Bangladesh.
The Independent: When will the “one-body multiple-wings” strategy be implemented in Bangladesh and why did you choose this country?
Li Jinyuan: This strategy would eventually be implemented in the whole world. Bangladesh would be the first country where the “one-body multiple-wings” programme will be implemented by April 2019.
The demand for proper health and education is enormous in Bangladesh. At the same time, Tianyuan University plans to cooperate with Bangladeshi universities, such as Dhaka University and North South University.
Tianyuan University will have different projects. These include cooperative projects, seminars and conferences, promoting mutual cooperation and understanding, deepening the foundation of cooperation, and strengthening exchanges in the field of education, such as teaching, professional knowledge and experience, and publishing academic journals in international universities with cooperative universities.
