Winter storm will cause travel delays back home this weekend

A strong winter storm to cause travel headaches across central/northern Wisconsin this weekend. A strong area of low pressure develops over the Central Plains bringing a mix this evening transitioning lasting into this morning.
Areas farther north may see more of a consistent mix, causing more slippery conditions.
Mainly rain across southern Wisconsin with a mix possible far north. We’ll pick up 1/2″ – 3/4″ of rain widespread so damp conditions will last through the weekend.
It’ll be breezy, too, with winds out of the SE at 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
Meanwhile, northern Wisconsin, central & northern Minnesota & the Dakotas will see widespread, heavy snow. Winter storm warnings are in effect.
As the low passes through, winds shift back from the NW ushering in cooler air and gusts still around 20-30 mph.
Precipitation will transition from a light mix to light snow with minor accumulations possible.
The highest chance for a little accumulating snow will be north of Madison.
Quieter weather for the start of the new work and school week. Full forecast here.
