28 firms get national productivity awards

A total of 28 industries and service-oriented organisations have received National Productivity and Quality Excellent Award-2018 for their outstanding contribution to productivity increase.
National Productivity Organisation of the industries ministry on Sunday handed over the award to the entities at a programme held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh auditorium in Dhaka.
The award was given under six categories — large, medium, small, micro, cottage and hi-tech industry.
Square Fashions Limited, Genesis Fashions Limited and Wisdom Attires Limited received the award under the large industry category (textile and RMG sub-category) while Mymensingh Agro Limited, Square Food and Beverage Limited and Olympic Industries Limited got the award in the food sub-category.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, ACI Godrej Agrovet Pvt Ltd and Allplast Bangladesh Limited were awarded under the large industry chemical sub-category while Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills Limited, BRB Cables Industry Limited and Ifad Autos Limited received the honour under the steel and engineering sub-category.
Standard Bank Limited, British America Tobacco Bangladesh Company Limited and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited also got the award under the large industry category.
Divine IT Limited, Saad Musa Fabrics Limited and Q&S Container Services Limited received the award under the medium industry category while Bongo Backers Limited, Sun Basic Chemicals Limited and Masco Oversees Limited got the award under the micro industry category.
Greeho Shukhon Butiques and Hamim Lasik Beauty Parlours got the award under the cottage industry category while Pragoti Industries Limited, Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited and Khulna Shipyard Limited received the award under the state-owned industry category.
NPO also awarded National Association of Small Cottage Industries of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association and Bangladesh Agro-Processors Association with ‘Institutional Appreciation Crest-2018’ given for the first time.
Industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder handed over the awards to representatives of the winners at the function presided over by industries secretary Md Abdul Halim.
NPO director SM Asrafuzzaman, Mymensingh Agro Limited managing director Eleash Mridha, acting BKMEA president Mansur Ahmed spoke, among others, at the programme.
