Bangladesh has recently given a proposal to India regarding launching air bubble flights with the country.

But, the country has not communicated its decision yet, an official of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) told The Daily Star today.

"The flights are expected to start at the end of this week or early next week," the official said.

A letter containing essential directives regarding the passengers of the flight, signed by Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, was issued on August 10, the official added.

Compulsory quarantine in case of entry to Bangladesh from India is also being relaxed conditionally.

Those who have received two doses of vaccines 14 days before entering Bangladesh will have to stay in home quarantine for 14 days, instead of institutional quarantine, provided they show the vaccination card and RT-PCR Covid negative certificate.

However, unvaccinated travelers have to be in institutional quarantine.

The government has upheld the decision to suspend passenger services between Bangladesh and India through all land ports except Benapole, Akhaura, Burimari, Hili, Darshana and Sonamasjid till August 26 as there is a possibility of launching flights with India soon.
