Bangla PPE export to US a 'significant milestone': Pompeo

US secretary of state Mike Pompeo recently appreciated Bangladesh for exporting personal protective equipment (PPE) to america, calling it a 'significant milestone'. International partnerships like they are crucial as companies focus their production on supplying the PPE needed by frontline personnel all over the world, Pompeo said in a tweet.
THE UNITED STATES Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at US Department of State, in a tweet, thanked the partnership between Bangladesh’s Beximco and US brand Hanes for the fast response to create PPE shipment to the US possible. Beximco has swiftly moved to add manufacturing capacities in PPE items like gowns, masks and coveralls.
On May 25, Bangladesh shipped 6.5 million PPE gowns to Hanes for delivery to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
US National Security Council also tweeted saying, "Great to see the partnership between the US and Bangladesh growing more robust as we support each other in the #COVID19 fight and work together toward economical recovery."
Out of the set of 25 items america requested Bangladesh to supply, the latter conveyed it had been with the capacity of exporting 14 items, according to Bangla media reports. Bangladesh is dispatching these medical supplies to other countries as well.
