Banking asset to GDP stood 67.2 percent
Country's banking sector's overall asset to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio stood at 67.2 per cent at the end of 2016 while the ratio was 65.2 per cent at the end of September, 2016.
A report of Bangladesh Bank said, total asset of the overall banking sector stood at TK 11.6 trillion at the end of 2016 which was Tk 10.2 trillion at the end of 2015. Quarterly Fina-ncial Stability Asses-sment Report prepared by the central bank unveiled the picture.
So far, the report for Oct-Dec quarter of 2016 is available. It also shows that loans and advances occupy the largest portion of total assets of the banking sector. The amount of loans and advances stood at Tk 7.13tr at the end of December 2016 which was Tk 6.00tr at the end of December 2015.
