A batch of 30 civil servants from Bangladesh on Monday underwent a training workshop on the drone technology being used by the Uttarakhand government in its different departments. The event was organized at the Drone Application Research Center of the Uttarakhand IT Development Authority (UITDA) office in Dehradun.
The director of UITDA, Amit Sinha said, “Our centre has emerged as the training hub for many government agencies. Today, a batch of mid-career civil servants from Bangladesh had come to know how we are using drone technology for different purposes like medical, forest and police works.”
Sinha said Uttarakhand is the only state to have set up a drone centre. “At present, over 30 drones are owned by different government agencies like the district administration, police, disaster and the forest department. The use of drones has given superb results in monitoring work,” said Sinha.
After the discussions and live demo, the visiting civil servants were pleasantly surprised to know how drone can aid government work. “They were particularly amazed at drone use in medical purpose like the blood sample that was transported for 37 km in 18 minutes, which by road would have taken over 1.40 hours,” said an UITDA official.
