‘CUET Sheikh Kamal IT Incubator considered as dream project’

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director (MD) Hosne Ara Begum, on Friday said Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator project has been set up at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) to create successful entrepreneurs in the IT sector, inspire research and innovation activities at the university level and enrich the industry-academy collaboration.
She made the remark during her visit to the project area on CUET campus on Friday, said a media statement.
“It really is being considered a dream project of the federal government at a price of around Tk125 crore. At present its construction is nearing completion,” she said.
While visiting the project area, Hosne Ara Begum also exchanged views in addition to the project officials, engineers, and contractors.
Later, she made a courtesy ask CUET Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Rafiqul Alam at his office.
Hosne Ara Begum said the project is the to begin its kind at the university-level to achieve the expected degree of IT revenue by expanding Bangladesh’s global opportunities in the IT industry.
Earlier, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) using its Chairman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the project to set up Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator in CUET at its 26th meeting on June 8, 2017.
The project is being implemented under the supervision of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.
Under this project, the main incubation building, a 10 storey building, will be constructed on CUET campus. A 6-storey multipurpose building and two modern dormitories with 200 rooms are also under construction.
