Both the bourses of the country — Dhaka and Chittagong — are running without managing directors, with the authorities still looking for new MDs for the last two months.
Currently, two senior officials are working as acting managing directors at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).
The DSE and the CSE authorities have published circulars inviting applications for the job in national dailies and web portals.
The post at both the DSE and the CSE has remained vacant in absence of qualified candidates.
The tenure of the immediate past MD of DSE KAM Majedur Rahman expired on July 11 last. Majedur joined the DSE as MD on July 11, 2016 for a three-year term.
Before the job, Majedur worked at managerial level in the country’s banking sector for 35 years.
Abdul Matin Patwary, chief financial officer of DSE, is working as acting managing director at the bourse.
Beside, the tenure of M Shaifur Rahman Mazumdar, the immediate past MD of CSE, expired on May 31 last. General manager of the bourse Md Ghulam Faruque is working as its acting managing directors.
CSE higher official said that to fill the post, the port city bourse published advertisements thrice inviting applications from the aspiring candidates but no qualified candidates were yet to be found.
