Eyeing blue overall economy, PM Hasina says Coast Guard will become strengthened

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the Bangladesh Coast Guard might be strengthened in order that they can a good play role in helping the federal government tap the probable of the blue market.  

“Remember the blue market and Eyesight 2030 and 2041 for Coast Guard, the government has planned to improve its manpower from 4,781 to 15,000 gradually,” she said on Sunday.

The prime minister made the statement while addressing the commissioning program of two offshore patrol vessels, five in-shore patrol vessels, two fast patrol boats and BCG Base Bhola.

The prime minister joined the program, held at Coast Guard Berth Patenga, virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.

In the case, Sheikh Hasina asked Bangladesh Coast Guard members to carry out their tasks with patriotism, honesty and faith.

"You’ll need to pay particular attention to your duties so that the good photograph of the Coast Guard definitely remains unharmed," she said.  

She assured the force of all-out cooperation from the federal government in maintaining its forward march.

The prime minister said Narayanganj dockyard and Khulna shipyard, now operating under Bangladesh Navy, are building two inshore patrol vessels, one floating crane, two tugboats and 16 boats. "In the near future, these will come to be inducted in the Coast Guard fleet." 

She mentioned that a dockyard is being prepared in Gajaria for the Coast Guard to increase its capacity of mending and maintenance.

"To enhance the capability of this force, initiatives have already been taken to procure hovercraft, drone, 3,500 metric ton vessel that may operate in every weathers. You want to build the Coast Guard as a modern and time befitting power," said. Sheikh Hasina.

Terming Bangladesh a land of all natural calamities, she said the persons of the country need to live when facing those natural adversities. "We must live with those; we must put our interest towards saving the lives of men and women facing all the odds; we need to acquire those capabilities."   

Hasina said Bangladesh includes a vast ocean boarder which may be utilized for the financial development of the united states. "The Bay of Bengal is a very important ocean. Trade and commerce of several countries tell you this area." 

The prime minister added that the federal government wants to ensure security in coastal districts and improve their economic condition.

"Keeping that at heart, we want to use our sea means for our monetary development. This is why we have formulated an effective arrange for the blue overall economy,” she said.
