Finland keen to invest in Bangladesh

Finland has expressed keen interest to pursue investment in Bangladesh on highly potential sector including information and communication technology, financial instruments, health, renewable energy, sustainable forestry and smart agriculture.

The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (FBCCI) and Finnpartnership in co-operation with Embassy of Finland in New Delhi jointly organized the seminar.
Birgit Nevala, program director of Finnpartnership and Patrik Bredbacka, program officer of Finnpartnership, respectively highlighted the business prospects between the two countries.
Finland expressed keen interest to make strong partnership with Bangladesh and to make investment in highly prospective sector in Education, ICT and Artificial intelligent (AI), Financial Instruments, Health, IT sector Renewable Energy, Sustainable Forestry and SMART Agriculture, said a statement of the FBCCI.
As per the latest data, bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Finland stood at $244.5 million in the last fiscal year.
FBCCI president Sheikh Fazle Fahim chaired the seminar while Agriculture Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaque was present as chief guest. Titta Maja, director of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland (South Asia), and FBCCI Vice President Md Rejaul Kariem also addressed the seminar.
“Bangladesh government is committed to creating a conducive environment for foreign direct investment and looked forward to a higher degree of Finnish interest and investment to the country,” said Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque.
He further highlighted Bangladesh’s successes in agriculture and climate change adaptation.
FBCCI presented Bangladesh’s stable macro-economic growth trajectory and its development in past decade. It also highlighted FBCCI’s role as the umbrella trade organization of Bangladesh.
“FBCCI has been addressing some critical issues of our transitional economy including knowledge transfer for 3IR to 4IR, AI, regulatory planning, SDG goals, industry-academia gap assessment, technology transfer, among others,” said FBCCI President Sheikh F Fahim.
