Investment to enhance country's GDP stressed

Speakers here today underscored the need for boosting investment and setting up echo-friendly industries to enhance country's GDP.

They were addressing a conference on 'Private Investment Attraction, Problem and possibility of industrialization', held at the conference room of Khulna Deputy Commissioner with executive member-2 of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Navash Chandra Mondal in the chair.

BIDA organized the conference aiming at boosting private investment to ensure country's development transforming Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021 and developed one by 2041. 

Khulna divisional commissioner Md. Lokman Hossain Mia addressed the conference as the chief guest while Additional Divisional Commissioner(General) Md. Faruk Hossain, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Develo-pment) Nischinta Kumar Poddar, Additional Police Super Naimul Haque Khan, Acting Deputy Commissioner Md. Moniruzzaman and Senior Vice President of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI) Sharif Atiar Rahman addressed as special guests.

Director of BIDA Md. Ariful Haque screened a video presentation on the issue while deputy director of BIDA Dr. Monjurul Haque delivered the welcome speech. The chief guest urged the businessmen and entrepreneurs to enhance their investment in country's south-western zone as it is very potential area for private investment.

He assured that government would extend all support and cooperation to entrepreneurs to increase trade and investment in the country.

Directors of KCCI, Businessmen including women entrepreneurs, government officials, freedom fighters, local elite and journalists attended the function.
