Jordan senate president lauds Bangladesh’s growth during pandemic

Jordanian Senate President and past primary minister Faisal Akif Al-Fayez has highly valued Bangladesh's above 5 percent GDP growth even during pandemic beneath the leadership of Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He was addressing a particular webinar as the principle guest yesterday.

Bangladesh Embassy in Amman, Jordan organised the function to tag the historic January 10, Dad of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Homecoming Evening, and inauguration of the newly installed 'Bangabandhu Corner' in the mission compound.

The senior politician from Jordan shared how impressive the growth report of Bangladesh is, specifically given that so many countries are experiencing undesirable growth as a result of the economic slowdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lt Col (retd) Faruk Khan MP, couch of the parliamentary standing up committee on the ministry of international affairs, was present due to the guest of honour.

He highlighted the leadership characteristics of Bangabandhu and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Khan also thanked the Bangladeshi expatriate employees who contributed greatly to the country's economy despite Covid-19 and assured them of all support on behalf of the Sheikh Hasina federal government.

Moderated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Special Assistant Barrister Shah Ali Farhad, the function was also addressed simply by Chief Coordinator of the Nationwide Implementation Committee for the Birth Centenary Celebrations of the daddy of the Nation, Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury; former person in the Jordanian Senate Dr Sawsan Majali; famous writer, researcher and journalist Syed Badrul Ahsan; and Ambassador of Bangladesh to Jordan Nahida Sobhan.

A video about the context and nationwide mood of January 10, 1972, titled 'Hopes and Aspirations: YOUR DAY the Father of the country Returned Home', made by Barrister Farhad, was as well screened through the event.

Dr Majali highlighted the role of the current federal government in Bangladesh and NGOs like BRAC in transforming the lives of millions, especially rural women.

She also applauded the rapid digitisation of Bangladesh under PM Sheikh Hasina and how millions of mobile banking consumers are guaranteeing financial inclusion at the grassroots level.

Dr Kamal highlighted the significance of Mujib Year, specifically for the youth.

He pointed out the timelessness of Bangabandhu's politics and philosophy and how they are extremely much relevant in the current domestic and international politics.

Dr Kamal shared his unique connection with witnessing the March 7 speech of Bangabandhu in 1971 and what impression it had on his little mind.

He narrated the initiatives undertaken by the federal government for celebrating Mujib Calendar year and the golden anniversary of Bangladesh's independence.

He lauded the Embassy in Jordan for establishing the Bangabandhu Corner, and hoped that the assembly would permit Bangladeshi and foreign people to know about the exceptional existence of the architect of Bangladesh's independence.

Syed Badrul narrated the electrifying atmosphere on Dhaka and through the entire country at the anticipation of welcoming Bangabandhu to his motherland just after almost nine and a half months of incarceration in the dark cells of Pakistani prisons.

He set Bangabandhu's politics in historical context, and the spectacular mother nature of the successful independence activity of Bangalees headed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, like the position of the six-point demands and the Agartala Conspiracy Circumstance.

Ambassador Sobhan termed Bangabandhu the 'apostle of independence', seeing as she listed the reason why for his stature due to the undisputed architect of our independence.

She expressed hope that the 'Bangabandhu Part' in the Bangladesh Embassy will allow visitors to find out about the sacrifices of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib made in realising the imagine an unbiased and prosperous Bangladesh.

The debate was arranged by the Bangladesh Embassy in Amman, Jordan as part of the 'Mujib Borsho Webinar Series'.

Earlier, on December 29, 2020, the embassy arranged a webinar about 'Liberation of Bangladesh and the Imagine Sonar Bangla', which was attended by, among others, the Bangladeshi and Palestinian Foreign Ministers.
