Liberty IT Dublin announces charity partnership with PIETA house
Liberty IT, the Belfast and Dublin-based technology arm of Liberty Mutual Insurance, will be getting on their bikes, putting their running shoes on and baking delicious cakes for Pieta House as this year’s chosen charity to raise vital funds for suicide and self-harm prevention resources. A projected total of €10,000 will go towards the critical services of the charity.
Employees from across the offices will be taking part in the Darkness into Light challenge, Pieta 100 Cycle, VHI Women’s Mini Marathon and partnering with Marks & Spencer to bag pack for customers.
Chair of the Charity Committee at Liberty IT, Celine Sherlock, said:
“It is fantastic news for us to have this opportunity to work with Pieta House. Suicide and mental health issues are a massive concern within our communities, and our teams feel so passionately about raising awareness of the charity and provide support to those that may need the service. We have organised a number of events across the year that will enable all of our teams to get involved.
Our fundraising and support towards Pieta House is crucial in continuing their great work across Ireland and we’re delighted to be involved. We also want to extend our thanks to the employees and volunteers at Pieta House for dedicating themselves to this cause.”
Marie Peelo, Deputy Director of Funding and Advocacy at Pieta House added:
“We are thrilled and sincerely grateful to Liberty IT for choosing us this year as their charity partner. Darkness into Light is our flagship fundraising event taking place on May 11 and we are looking forward to Liberty IT employees joining us in the walk. Darkness into Light provides an opportunity for people to connect with their local community and to show their support for those who have been bereaved by suicide. Liberty IT are helping us to raise awareness in the global fight against suicide and self-harm. The funds received will help us provide our nationwide services which are free of charge and freely available therapeutic services to people who are in suicidal distress and those who engage in self-harm.”
“Since Darkness into Light began, our dedicated supporters have helped us raise almost €20 million, which has enabled us to keep our doors and our 24/7 helpline open for people in crisis, free of charge. Since 2012, when our first international event took place in London, our international charity partners have benefited from an investment of €3 million in local mental health support services.
“Walk with us, talk with us, so that together we can create a world where suicide, self-harm and stigma have been replaced by hope, self-care and acceptance.”
