SME sector needs insurance policy support to create additional employment: experts

The country's small and moderate enterprises (SMEs) sector needs policy support from the federal government to create more employment and so boost its contribution to the economy, said experts at a webinar today.

The webinar titled BBF SME Digital Summit 2020 happened on Zoom tonite, organised by Better Bangladesh Base in association with BBF-Global with desire to to give attention to promoting SMEs for sustainable economical growth in Bangladesh.

SME Base Managing Director Shafiqul Islam said in the programme that increased employment will be ensured if SME sector is developed properly.

He underscored the need for adopting strategies predicated on the production of the SME sector to ensure that more employment could possibly be created, which would take up a vital purpose in revamping the country's market in the post-pandemic period.

Organizing Minister MA Mannan, who was simply the principle guest at the programme, ensured all-out policy support from the federal government in this regard.

Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad was among the special guests.

Brac Bank Limited Managing Director Selim RF Hussain delivered the key-note speech in the program moderated by Masud A good Khan, chairman and CEO of Better Bangladesh Basis.

BASIS Senior Vice President Farhana A Rahman, SBK Tech Ventures Founder Sonia Bashir Kabir, Ayat Base CEO Nusrat Feroz Aman, BBF Global CEO Rafiq Khan, BBF Global MD Sazzad Rashid and Channel-I Programme Supervisor Raju Alim were among the panel discussants.

Other loudspeakers at the webinar included Mantasha Ahmed, president of the Association of Manner Designers of Bangladesh; Barrister Niti Sanjana, an advocate of Bangladesh Supreme Courtroom and Sk Md Tarikul Islam, a representative of UK-established Hoda Vasi Chowdhury and Co.
