SMEDA discusses SME sector issues
Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Provincial Chief Mukesh Kumar held a meeting to discuss the issues faced by the SMEs and new entrepreneurs in Pakistan. Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) President Zulfikar Thaver, Sindh Enterprises Development Fund Managing Director Mehboobul Haq and National Bank representatives attended the session. The meeting highlighted the issues of access to finance, unemployment, energy policies, etc. Kumar briefed about Smeda, its role in the facilitation of SMEs through interventions at macro and micro levels and the mandate given by the government to Smeda. Thaver highlighted that Unisame created awareness, identified the impediments and suggested remedies. “It is now deeply concerned about increasing unemployment in the country and difficulties faced by the SMEs in getting access to finance,” he added.
