Stocks plunge to lowest of the month
Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plunged below Tk 600crore mark today, touching the lowest in last one and a half months.
The indicator fell by 15.17 per cent to Tk 580.7 crore, with Tk 11.9 crore worth of shares and mutual funds changing hands at the bourse.
Of the traded issues, 77 advanced and 225 declined with 41 securities closing unchanged on the country’s premier bourse.
Bangladesh Submarine Cables dominated the turnover chart with 28.57 lakh shares worth Tk 48.90 crore changing hands, end-of-day trading showed.
Khulna Power, Monno Ceramics, Fortune Shoes and United Power Generation followed.
Karnaphuli Insurance was the day’s best performer with 9.56 percent gain, while Savar Refractories was at the bottom, shedding 9.99 percent.
Chattogramstocks also plummeted with the bourse’s benchmark index, CSCX, decreasing41.40 points or 0.38 percent to finish the day at 10,601.11.
Loser beat gainers as 169declined and 62 advanced, while 25 finished unchanged on the Chittagong Stock Exchange. The port city bourse traded 51.04 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 15.67 crore.
