Event organiser Mostafiz Uddin says the decision to allow relevant companies to exhibit cost-free at the ‘Sustainability Centre’ will help to accelerate the adoption of new environmental technologies in Bangladesh that can lower the environmental footprint of the industry.

The event takes place on the 5th November and runs concurrently with Bangladesh Denim Expo.

“It is a personal mission to bring more green technologies to Bangladesh,” said event organiser and CEO Mostafiz Uddin, “I have a desire to help the textile industry in my country become a worldwide leader in sustainability.”

Earlier this summer, Mostafiz played an instrumental role in negotiations that saw the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) – the trade body of apparel manufacturers in Bangladesh – join the UN Climate Change’s Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action (UNFCCC) initiative.

The combined events attract many of the world’s leading denim manufacturers as well as other, apparel and textile industry stakeholders to Bangladesh – the world’s 2nd largest producer of apparel.

“The combined events attract many of the world’s leading denim manufacturers as well as other, apparel and textile industry stakeholders,” says the organiser. “This prime audience means the Sustainability Centre is guaranteed to offer fantastic exposure for new green technologies and ideas.”

The move is being described as a ‘one-off’ for innovators and providers to showcase their green solutions in Bangladesh.
