Career and Placement Center (CPC) of leading Bangladeshi private North South University organized the two-day National Career Fair.

Chaired by North South University (NSU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Atique Islam, the inaugural session of the fair was addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Minister of Information Muhammad Hasan Mahmud, University Grants Commission Chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah and North South University chairman Benajir Ahmed.

Like previous occasions, scores of local and foreign companies including some 40 leading Chinese firms joined this year's fair to provide job aspirants with information on the positions in their organizations. They came from different sectors such as engineering, garment, communication and so on.

The job-seeker, Sazid Hasan, 24, said he graduated in engineering last year but had been jobless since then.

"I've attended many interviews today and received an offer," said Hasan.

"It's a good offer," said he. With the pay offered, he believed he could afford his living and support his parents on bearing the family expenses.

Another participate Afifa Tasnim said the fair paved the way for her to talk with human resource personnel of many good companies which are usually beyond reach.

Being a good opportunity for jobseekers, participating companies helped them reach a wider group of people from not only NSU but other institutions.

To ease the pressure of young students looking for jobs, the CPC has been organizing the career fair since long.

Companies who joined the fair provided information to students who are new to the workforce, collected CVs from potential candidates and conducted interviews.

"I'am deeply pleased to be able to hire some graduates for my company," said an human resource executive who preferred to be unnamed.
